Welcome

CASA of Maryland is a community organization that was founded in 1985 by Central American refugees and North Americans. CASA was created in response to the human needs of the thousands of Central Americans arriving to the D.C. area after fleeing wars and civil strife in their countries of origin.

Who is CASA?

CASA de Maryland is the largest Latino and Immigrant organization in the state of Maryland, and a key partner in the national campaign for immigration reform.  Along with our sister organization CASA in Action, a registered 501 (c) 4, we are leading the movement for social justice for Maryland’s low-income Latino and immigrant community.

Yesterday and Today…

CASA was founded in 1985 in a church basement in response to the urgent needs of recently arrived refugees from Central America. From those humble beginnings, we have grown into a multi-cultural membership organization that provides services and supports thousands of members across the State.

Today, CASA occupies an important space as a true grassroots organization that directly addresses immediate needs while also influencing the regional and national debate on immigration and public policy.

OUR MISSION

To create a more just society by building power and improving the quality of life in low-income immigrants communities.

OUR VISION

A future with diverse and thriving communities living free from discrimination and fear, working together with mutual respect to achieve human rights for all.
